The year might be winding down, but things are heating up at the Scovill Zoo in Decatur, IL. The zoo has two events coming up to finish out the season, and both are going to be a hit. Get the details and secure a spot for your kiddos. Then, your kids can enjoy some animal encounters and activities while waiting for Santa to come.

Zoo Buddies – Dec. 14

Each month, the Scovill Zoo hosts its Zoo Buddies event for kids aged 3-5. The next one will be on Dec. 14, and you have two options. Your kids can attend from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. It’s $18 to attend, or your kids can get in for $15 with the resident discount.

Your kids will immerse themselves in an animal environment or species at the Zoo Buddies event. There will be storytime, a discussion, and crafts, so they’ll have a blast.

And there’s no reason to stop with one Zoo Buddies event. The zoo focuses on a new environment or species each month, so your kids can go back over and over. It’s so much fun that you’ll want to mark it on your calendar so your little ones can go each month.

Parent’s Afternoon Out – Dec. 21

With Christmas right around the corner, you might need some free time to get some shopping done. Additionally, you might just want a little peace and quiet while gearing up for the holidays. That won’t be a problem this season, thanks to Parents’ Afternoon Out at the Scovill Zoo. This event is on Dec. 21 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $25 for the first child and $15 for all additional siblings.

The event is open to kids aged 5 and over and is filled with fun activities. Once your kiddos arrive, they’ll get to enjoy a movie, snacks, and crafts. Plus, there’ll be an animal presentation, so they’ll learn a bit while having fun. With the kids occupied, you can enjoy some guilt-free time to yourself.
