Whether you’re having a small gathering or the whole family over for the holidays, you’ll want your floor to be sparkling clean when guests arrive. It’s difficult to keep track of different types of floors and what they each need in order to be cleaned in the best way possible. We’ve taken the guesswork out of a few common types of floors for you. Read on to discover how to safely, effectively, and easily prepare all of your floors for guests this holiday season.
Linoleum Floor
True linoleum floor is made up of a combination of natural elements. This means you’ll want to put the harsh chemical cleaners away and grab a simpler combination of cleaning items instead. Grab hot water, dish soap, a microfiber mop or cloth, and a spray bottle. Add a few drops of dish soap to hot water in the spray bottle. Then spray a section of the linoleum at a time and wipe with your microfiber mop or cloth. It’ll air dry quickly, so once wiped that’s all you need to do to have clean linoleum floors.
Porcelain Tile
To keep your porcelain tiles gleaming, you only need a couple of items. You’ll need vinegar, warm water, dish soap, a 16-ounce spray bottle, and a microfiber mop or cloth. Mix a fourth cup of vinegar with one drop of dish soap in the spray bottle. Fill up the remainder of the spray bottle with warm water. Spray your floor one section at a time and wipe with your microfiber mop or cloth to reveal clean tiles.

Hardwood Floor
First, you’ll need to determine if you have sealed or waxed hardwood floors. Each one has different cleaning needs. Waxed wood floors are sensitive and can be damaged by even small amounts of water. All you need to do for those is to vacuum or sweep regularly. For sealed wood floors, mix a quarter cup of mild or pH-neutral soap with water in a bucket and mop with a barely damp mop for fast results.
